Full Time Disability Support Worker
As a Direct Support Professional, you'll uphold our organizations values by providing personalized support to individuals experiencing disability. Your role is pivotal in enhancing their independence, fostering their potential and improving their overall quality of life.
Essential Job Functions:

Support individuals in daily living activities, work, leisure, and community events based on personalized plans.

Collaborate with individuals, families, and the community to implement person-centered plans.

Assist individuals in supported decision making and goal setting
-
Support individuals with skill development and goal planning according to their interests and person centered plans.
-
Utilize effective communication techniques tailored to individual needs.
-
Implement positive behavior support techniques.
-
Identify triggers and intervene respectfully to prevent or manage challenging behaviors.
-
Provide personal care and assistance as needed, including medication administration.
-
Offer physical assistance to individuals with mobility limitations.
-
Prepare meals, perform housekeeping duties, and provide transportation when required.
-
Serve as a positive role model and encourage interpersonal skills development.
-
Maintain accurate documentation of individual activities, health, progress, and incidents.
-
Provide progress reports and recommendations on individual plans.
-
Monitor and report safety hazards.

Participate in meetings and training sessions.
Schedule:
Week 1: Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday - 9pm - 9 am NIGHT SHIFT
Week 2: Sunday 9 pm - 9 am - NIGHT SHIFT, Thursday, Friday 9am-9pm DAY SHIFT
Week 3: Wednesday, Thursday, Friday 9pm - 9 am - NIGHT SHIFT
4 days off, 5 night shifts, 3 days off, 2 day shifts, 4 days off, 3 night shifts.

Position Requirements:

High School diploma or equivalent (GED)

Valid Class 5 Drivers License.

Satisfactory criminal record check and vulnerable sector check.

Proficiency in spoken and written English.

Availability for shift work.

Ability to maintain confidentiality and apply behavior support techniques.

Strong observational and multitasking skills.

Experience in disability support is an asset.
Working Conditions:

Shift work including days, evenings, weekends, and nights as per program needs.

Dress code appropriate to assigned activities.

Potential exposure to unpredictable behaviors and moving equipment.

May require independent work and outdoor tasks.

Exposure to chemicals and communicable diseases may occur.

Participation in physically demanding tasks may be necessary.

The Life of a Recycling Technician:
Each and every SARCAN team member is an important part of our team and community. As a recycling technician you will be responsible for:

Basic reading, writing and numeracy skills.

Basic computer skills; use of computer is required.

Ability to focus on own work, including counting and recording containers.
-
Ability to follow instructions and ensure tasks are completed in the appropriate sequence.

Ability to communicate with customers and answer questions in a courteous and professional manner.

To be dependable and a team player.

Must provide a satisfactory criminal record check as a condition of employment.
